Algor, Boland Lead Greyhounds to Shutout of Berkeley

NEWARK, N.J. --- Senior forward Jeffrey Algor scored on Moravian College's first shot of the match, and the Greyhounds made the goal stand up for a 1-0, non-conference win over Berkeley (N.J.) College Tuesday evening in a contest played at New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Algor took a shot inside the box from the left side and put it past Berkeley keeper Pierce Langlois, who was diving to his right. The goal was Algor's team-leading ninth of the season, and it came just a minute and a half after Berkeley put a shot on Moravian sophomore keeper Brian Boland.

Late in the first half, Berkeley had a pair of shots including one inside the six-yard box that missed the net while Moravian freshman defender Ian Larimer put a shot on goal in the 43rd minute.

Berkeley kept the pressure up in the second half but Boland had a pair of saves and saw another shot hit the post to keep the Greyhounds in front. Freshman forward Saul Marcial put Moravian's only shot on goal in the second half with a hard shot in the 75th minute.

Boland finished the match with five saves for his second shutout of the season and the third clean sheet of his career. Berkeley ended up with a 13-6 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 12 when the Greyhounds host Drew University in a Landmark Conference match starting at 3:30 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
