WASHINGTON – The Moravian College men's soccer team dropped its second straight Landmark Conference contest on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss at The Catholic University of America.

The Greyhounds (5-4-2, 0-2)  received eight saves from sophomore goalkeeper Brian Boland, and added two team saves against the Cardinals, who improved to 6-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the conference.

Catholic opened the scoring in the 30th minute, but not before junior midfielder Chris Gomez ripped a shot on goal, forcing a save from the Cardinal keeper in the 15th minute. Boland also made two saves before the opening tally.

The Cardinals scored again 10 minutes later and took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

Catholic needed only 3:11 in the second half to add its third goal of the contest.

Junior defender Matt Guidon had a chance to get Moravian on the scoreboard in the 87th minute, but his shot was saved by the Catholic goalkeeper to preserve the clean sheet.

The Greyhounds return to action on Tuesday with a trip to Berkeley (N.J) College for a 7 p.m. non-conference match hosted by The College of New Jersey under the lights. Moravian is set for its Landmark Conference home opener on Saturday, Oct. 12 when Drew University comes to the HUB Quad for a 3:30 p.m. kick.
