CAPE COD, Mass. --- The Moravian College women's soccer team has been awarded fifth seed in the 2012 ECAC Division III South Tournament, and the Greyhounds will host fourth seeded Lebanon Valley College in a quarterfinal match on Wednesday, November 7th on the HUB Quad starting at 2:00 p.m.
The Greyhounds will be hosting the match versus the Dutchmen since Lebanon Valley is also playing in the ECAC South Men's Soccer Tournament and is unable to host both matches Wednesday.
Wednesday's other quarterfinal matches will feature top seed Stevenson University (12-5-3) hosting eighth seed St. Vincent College (11-6, second seed Swarthmore College hosting seventh seed Marywood University (10-8-1) and third seeded Wilkes University (11-4-4) hosting sixth seed Albright College (10-8). The four winners of the quarterfinals matches will head to the top seed for the semifinals on Saturday, November 10th and final on Sunday, November 11th. The Greyhounds are 10-8-2 on the season and went 4-2 in Landmark Conference play as the squad was the second seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament, falling to The University of Scranton in the conference Championship match. This is Moravian's third ECAC appearance in the last ten years. Lebanon Valley is 11-7-1 on the year and reached the Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
Greyhounds' head coach Brienne Smith has Moravian in the postseason for the third straight year in her three seasons at the helm as the squad has been in the Landmark Conference Tournament each season she has coached at Moravian.
Sophomore midfielder Kirsten Schall (Tinton Falls, N.J./Saint Rose HS) leads the Greyhounds in scoring with eight goals including a pair of game winning tallies and seven assists for 23 points, and she has taken 85 of the team's 92 corner kicks this season. Junior forward Caroline Clark (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Lawrence Woodmere Academy) has contributed five goals and two assists for 12 points, and she has two game-winning goals this fall.
Freshman midfielder Catherine Lamplugh (Cinnaminson, N.J/Holy Cross HS) has netted four goals for eight points in her debut season for the Greyhounds while senior defender Eileen Black (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville HS) and freshman forward Melissa Pavia (Manasquan, N.J./Manasquan HS) each have three goals and two assists for eight points with Black netting a pair of game-winning goals. Junior midfielder Taylor DiSora (Easton, Pa./Easton HS) has added a goal and an assist for Moravian this fall.
Freshmen defender/midfielder Taylor Blake (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth HS), midfielder Brittany Nicoline (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West HS) and forward Carissa Mehaffey (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon County HS) and junior midfielder/forward Sarah LaFerrara (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park HS) each have scored one goal this season while junior midfielder Samantha Dunn (Upper Black Eddy, Pa./Palisades HS) has added one assist for the Greyhounds. Sophomore defender Kaylan Bruzzone (Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland Regional HS) and freshman defender Marlene Lopes (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan HS) have both started all 18 matches this season while freshman midfielder Micaela Kwotchka (Monroe, Conn./Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall) has played in 16 matches.
The Greyhounds have had two players split time in goal this fall. Senior Tori Korona (Easton, Pa./Easton HS) has a 1.01 goals-against average to go with a 3-4-2 record, three shutouts and 49 saves in 804 minutes of action while junior Genevieve Chaleff (Cranford, N.J/Cranford HS) has a 1.43 goals-against average, a 7-4 record, three shutouts and 57 saves in 1,074 minutes of action. The duo has also combined on a shutout this season for Moravian.
Lebanon Valley is coached by Lauren Salerno, who has the Dutchmen in the ECAC Tournament for the fifth time in school history. LVC was in the NCAA Tournament a year ago and was last in the ECAC South Tournament in 2010.
Senior forward Nicole Snyder leads the Dutchmen in scoring with 13 goals and five assists for 31 points, and she has netted six game-winning goals. Sophomore midfielder Amanda Douglass has added three goals and five assists for 11 points while junior midfielder Heather Tran has two goals and five assists for nine points.
Senior midfielder Morgan Miller has contributed four goals and an assists for nine points for LVC while junior midfielder/forward Lindi Crist has three goals and two assists for eight points. Junior mifielder/forward Jess Kleeschulte and senior midfielder Stevi Laird each have three goals and an assist for seven points with Laird netting two game-winning goals.
The Dutchmen have used two goals this season and recorded a total of ten shutouts. Senior Sami Young has posted a 1.21 goals-against average to go with a 6-6-1 record, 46 saves and five shutouts in 1,113 minutes of action. Junior Becca Sykes has a 0.57 goals-against average with a 4-1 record, 16 saves and a 4-1 record in 649 minutes of action.
