Joint Named Landmark Men's Field Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior jumper Kristopher Joint has been named the Landmark Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Joint opened the 2013-14 indoor season with the second best mark in school history of 14.82 meters (48 feet, 7 ½ inches) to win the event at the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals meet where the Greyhounds tied for fourth. The mark met the ECAC qualifying standard and puts him first on the TFRRS list for the NCAA Division III National Championships. The distance was also just 3 ½ inches shy of his school and Landmark Conference record set this past February. Joint also ran a time of 7.44 seconds in the 60-meter dash in his only other event of the meet.

"Kris had a few monster jumps that he just fouled on, but we're still very happy with where he started the season off at," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "He's within just a few inches of his lifetime best, and Saturday helped confirm some high goals both Kris and our coaching staff share for him this season. Fifty feet may not be out of the question before March."

The Greyhounds will not compete again until next semester when the squad goes to the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Friday, January 24.
