Hounds Selected to Win Another Landmark Outdoor Title

TOWSON, Md. --- The Moravian College men's outdoor track & field team has been selected to win the 2014 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship in May in the preseason poll voted on by the conference coaches.

The Hounds, who have captured all six Landmark Outdoor titles and are coming off of their fifth consecutive and sixth overall Landmark Indoor Championship earlier this month, received five first-place votes and 50 points in the poll to finish 12 points ahead of Susquehanna University, which garnered the other first-place vote.

"The men's program has had a great deal of success in the conference championships but Susquehanna has a strong team this year and wants to challenge us for the title, especially after the indoor meet was only decided by 18 points," stated third-year Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "We have an extremely talented core coming back that including a couple of All-Americans. I expect the conference meet to come down to the depth of each team, and you need that extra depth since the conference scores eight positions outdoors after only six indoors. I feel that we match up well against Susquehanna across the board except perhaps in the distance races where I think they have a little more depth than we do."

Moravian returns a total of 14 Landmark All-Conference award winners from last year. Seniors jumper Kristopher Joint and thrower Timothy Lorah each earned All-America honors a year ago. Joint is a three-time All-American, twice in the long jump and once in the triple jump while Lorah earn All-America honors in the javelin. Sophomore Albert Myers also returns after being named the Landmark Outdoor Rookie of the Year last season while sophomore Ryan Karnopp recently earn All-America honors in the pole vault indoors.

The Greyhounds first full meet of the outdoor season is schedule for Saturday, March 29 when the squad heads to Easton for the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet.
