BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team dropped a 2-1 non-conference match to visiting Ramapo College of New Jersey on John Makuvek Field Sunday afternoon in the Greyhounds 2018 home opener.

The Roadrunners took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute and would hold that edge through the rest of the first half.

Moravian sophomore midfielder Erica Heaney eventually tied the contest in the 45th minute as she knocked in a rebound after a scrum in front of the cage after the Greyhounds had a penalty corner. The Hounds would hold the edge in play over the next 15 minutes as they drew seven penalty corners and had two shots on goal. However, it was Ramapo that was able to take the lead with just 1:20 remaining with a goal off of a save on a penalty corner.

Greyhound sophomore goalie Ashley Kunsman stopped two shots in the match that saw the Blue and Grey hold a 14-8 edge on shots and a 16-9 edge in penalty corners.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday, September 7 in a non-conference match at William Paterson (N.J.) University beginning at 7:00 p.m.
