TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has named 47 student-athletes to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.

Of the 47 student-athletes, three were repeat honorees, and four were named to the Landmark All-Conference teams in their respective sports.

The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. The student-athletes selected demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.

The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2013 as a way to highlight student-athletes who are making an impact. The Landmark previously awarded a Sportsmanship Cup before the All-Sportsmanship Team replaced the Cup for the 2013-14 academic year.

Cross Country

Freshman Emma Marion is the women's cross country honoree on the All-Sportsmanship Team. Marion finished 47th at the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships in a time of 25:49.02 as Moravian placed second as a team in the meet.

"Emma has always been extremely energetic and vivacious," Director of Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann said. "She endured a nagging shin injury all season yet always put forth a positive attitude and demeanor. Her positivity was infectious and lifted the spirits of everyone around her. She's also a very attentive fan of the sport so she's extremely well informed about how others are doing and is supportive of all runners, both her teammates and competitors. You really have to work hard to be in poor spirits around Emma which makes her a delight to have on the team."

Junior Gavin Kemery was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team for the men's cross country program. Kemery was fifth in the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships with a time of 26:31.55 as he earned Landmark All-Conference First Team honors for the second time in his career.

"Gavin is one of the kindest, most genuine people we've been fortunate enough to work with here," noted Baumann. "Even his admissions counselors noticed this and felt he stood out in the recruitment process. This carries over to athletics as well as he is always complimentary of both his teammates and competitors, he always has an upbeat, "glass-half-full" mentality, and in general is just a positive person to be around. He tries to build up the spirits of everyone else around him and is a great example of a 'Hound."

Volleyball

Freshman defensive specialist Ally Locy was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team from Moravian's volleyball squad. Locy finished her debut season with 215 digs, 25 assists and 14 service aces.

"From day one Ally has always been positive and put the team first," commented Head Coach Shelley Bauder. "She did a great job, especially as just a freshmen, of working hard and promoting outstanding culture both in practice and during the games. She epitomizes what it means to promote good sportsmanship."

Field Hockey

Senior midfielder Elizabeth Hrehovcik is the field hockey team's 2018 recipient of the All-Sportsmanship honor. Hrehovcik, who was also Moravian's All-Sportsmanship honoree in 2016, played in 17 matches this fall and scored three goals. Hrehovcik finished her career with 13 goals, three game-winning goals and one assist in 68 career matches with 41 starts.

"Beth is the definition of sportsmanship," stated Head Coach Kristen Gillis. "She comes to early practice and games with a positive attitude and handles every obstacle and success in stride. She leads her teammates by example and is truly deserving of this award."

Women's Soccer

Senior defender Paige Kovacs has been a key member of the Greyhounds' defense for four years. This year she started all 16 matches she played in while helping Moravian return to the Landmark Conference Semifinals Kovacs played in 66 matches throughout her career, starting 47 of them.

"Paige had an outstanding year and did a wonderful job in leading our team as one of the captains," commented Head Coach Jeff Ykoruk. "I don't think a day goes by, where Paige doesn't have a smile on her face. She always brought such a positive vibe to practices and games. Paige is probably one of the nicest players I have coached. Without a doubt Paige will move on to do great things after college. She was very strong as a 1v1 defender and she played and started in every game this year. She helped in building the attack as well as supporting the forwards in that attacking half. We will really miss not having Paige around and she is a great role model to the younger players on the team."

Men's Soccer

Senior midfielder David Durski is the men's soccer team's selection to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Durski was a key member for Moravian as the squad qualified for the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time since the conference began in 2007-08. Durski had one goal and one assist this fall, and he completed his career with three goals, two of which were game-winners, and three assists in 62 career matches, starting half of them.

"I am happy to hear David has made the Fall All-Sportsmanship Team," commented first-year Bob Wilkinson. "Dave is one of our captains and leads by example on and off the field. He is well deserving of this award."
