Top 10 Games of 2018-19 - #3 Men's Soccer Top Goucher in Overtime for First-Ever Landmark Conference Postseason Berth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College is continuing its look back at its 2018-19 athletic campaign. The next event in the Top 10 Exciting Games from the past year is our No. 3 highlight – the men's soccer team posting a 1-0 overtime win at Goucher College to clinch the program's first Landmark Conference Semifinal appearance.

The Greyhounds, who completed the season with a 7-9-2 overall record, finished the Landmark Conference regular season at 4-3 after the win, and headed to the conference postseason for the first time in the 12-year history of the conference on a tiebreaker with a head-to-head win over The University of Scranton giving Moravian the fourth seed.

On Saturday, October 27, the Hounds traveled to Towson, Maryland for the regular season finale at Goucher. The Blue and Grey entered the match needing the victory and a Scranton loss to The Catholic University of America for the season to continue. The first half saw the Greyhounds hold a 6-4 edge in shots with five attempts ending up on goal while the Gophers had a 6-5 edge in corner kicks. Both teams would fire off three shots in the second half while Goucher had another 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Moravian sophomore goalie Michael Bone stopped both shots he saw in regulation.

When the squads headed to the overtime session, the Greyhounds would be down a man after a red card in the final minute of regulation. The Gophers would have the first opportunity with a corner kick roughly two and a half minutes into the 10-minute overtime but Goucher would not get a shot off on the set piece. Four minutes later, Moravian sophomore forward Alec Aloia fired in his sixth goal of the season to send the Hounds to the postseason.
