TOWSON, Md. --- After the completion of the winter season, Moravian College claimed the top spot to lead the Landmark Conference Presidents' Trophy standings. The Greyhounds claimed three titles out of the possible six winter championships.
The Greyhounds made the jump from fifth place after the fall season to the top of the standings thanks to their conference titles in men's and women's track & field, and men's basketball.
The Greyhounds also received one bonus point in women's basketball for making the Landmark championships, and an additional five points for their men's basketball championship.
Fall standings leader Elizabethtown College dropped to second place at the end of the winter season. The Blue Jays earned top-five finishes in three of the six sponsored winter sports, which included runner-up finishes in men's and women's indoor track & field, and women's basketball. Women's basketball also received two additional points for being the runner-up in the Landmark Championship game.
Catholic University finished third in the standings. The Cardinals posted a top-five finish in five of the six winter sports, including a championship title in men's swimming and a runner-up finish in women's swimming. The Cardinals' women's basketball team also earned a bonus point for their postseason appearance.
Susquehanna University maintained its fourth-place ranking after the fall season. the River Hawks won the Landmark title in women's swimming, placed second in men's swimming and was third in men's and women's indoor track & field.
The University of Scranton, which won its fourth straight women's basketball championship, finished fifth overall, while Juniata College finished sixth. Drew University finished seventh and Goucher College rounded out the winter trophy standings in eighth.
The Trophy is awarded based on a formula that rewards institutions for regular season conference standings as well as results in Landmark postseason competition. The point structure was revised in the summer of 2016 with different point hierarchies for team and individual sports, but the maximum number of points any team can earn is 15. The total number of points each institution earn is divided by the number of Landmark sports sponsored to determine the average.
