ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian College field hockey team dropped a hard-fought, 3-2 decision at rival Muhlenberg College in the final minutes of a non-conference match at Scotty Wood Stadium Tuesday evening.
The Mules jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute while the Greyhounds would knot the score at 1-1 five minutes later when senior forward Elizabeth Hrehovcik netted her third goal of the season and 13th of her career as she knocked in a pass from junior forward Elisa Sileccia. Moravian moved in front, 2-1, in the 24th minute as freshman defender Lauren Haffling scored her first career goal by tipping in a pass from freshman forward Kendal Wilkes on a penalty corner. Muhlenberg answered just 1:16 later to tie the score again at 2-2.
The match would remain that way until the 68th minute when the Mules netted the winning goal. The sequence started with a defensive save from junior defender Haley Wrazien. Sophomore goalie Ashley Kunsman stopped another shot before Muhlenberg scored on another rebound for the late advantage. Kunsman finished with seven saves, making five in the first half.
The Greyhounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, October 20 when the squad heads to The Catholic University of America for a Landmark Conference match beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
