Hounds Fall at Lycoming in Landmark Conference Action

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team fell to host Lycoming College, 84-67, in Landmark Conference action Sunday in a contest that was delayed a day due to the weather.

How It Happened

  • The Warriors scored the opening points while the Hounds netted the next five points on a lay-up from junior guard/forward Michael Leonardo and a three-pointer by sophomore guard Porter Kelly. The Blue & Grey led by four points at 12-8 after junior forward Gary Francis drained a three-pointer at the 14:37 mark
  • Lycoming countered with a 14-5 run to take a 22-17 lead before five straight points by Moravian knotted the score at 22-22 as sophomore forward Liam Cummiskey sank a pair of free throws. The Warriors moved back ahead by six points at 28-22 while the Greyhounds closed within a point three times, the final time at 37-36 with 2:13 until the intermission as Kelly connected on another three-pointer. Lycoming headed to the intermission with a 40-38 edge as Francis hit the final basket of the half with a jumper
  • Sophomore forward Marquis Ratcliff made a lay-up to begin the second half as the Blue & Grey knotted the score at 40-40. Francis put the Hounds back ahead with a three-pointer for a 43-40 edge; however, the Warriors netted the next eight points to take the lead for good.
  • Francis connected on a three-point play to pull the Greyhounds within two points at 48-46 with just over 17 minutes to play. Lycoming countered with a 14-2 run to take control of the contest

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had three players in double figures led by Ratcliff, who netted a team-high 17 points to go along with nine rebounds and a pair of blocked shots
  • Francis scored 14 points to go with three boards while Kelly tossed in 11 points and grabbed six rebounds
  • Leonardo recorded eight points, six rebounds and three assists while senior guard Alex Dietz had six points, four assists and two boards
  • Senior guard Mark Howell and freshman guard George Cutler both scored three points while Cummiskey and freshman guard Riley Flood both had two points. Cummiskey also had three rebounds while sophomore forward Uma Kalu scored one point
  • The Hounds were 19-for-58 from the field, 7-for-22 beyond the three-point line and 22-for-33 at the foul line
