Greyhound Men’s Lacrosse Ready to Start 2023 Campaign at Centenary on February 18

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse team is ready to begin the 2023 campaign with a non-conference match at Centenary (N.J.) University on Saturday, February 18 at 2:00 p.m.

Head Coach Dave Carty, who is in his eighth season with a 45-44 record and his 21st year as a collegiate coach, returns 32 players from last year's 7-6 squad.

The Greyhounds return one Landmark All-Conference player with graduate student attack Connor James back after being on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team a year ago after scoring a team-high 47 goals to go with nine assists, 31 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. James enters the season third all-time with 106 goals and fourth in school history with 128 points.

Junior attack Trevor Dzama led the Blue & Grey last spring with 45 assists and 66 total points as he added 21 goals and 21 ground balls. Sophomore midfielder Steven Salica contributed 14 goals and an assist in his collegiate debut in 2022 while junior attack Brennan Fluehr added 12 goals and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Aaron Judge also has 12 goals last year with one assist and 13 ground balls while senior midfielder Jack Bakey had four goals two assists, 13 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Junior midfielder Joey Furino contributed four goals and an assist while sophomore midfielder Nick Sullivan and junior midfielder Jack Swistak both had two goals and sophomore attack Dan Kelly had one goal.

Sophomore Gannon Mesko returns in the face-off circle, where he went 46-of-96 last season to go with 14 ground balls and an assist while junior midfielder Shane Cassel added three assists last year and sophomore midfielder Aden Moskovitz contributed a pair of assists.

Defensively, the Greyhounds return three goalies from 2022. Sophomore Thomas Lee registered 113 saves, 18 ground balls and a 6-5 record in 577 minutes last season while junior Avery Napolitano had six saves in 46 minutes of action and sophomore Sean Boyer had three saves in 12 minutes of play. Junior long stick midfielder Matt Baer recorded 49 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers, a goal and two assists last year while sophomore defender Jason Levy contributed 21 ground balls and six caused turnovers and sophomore midfielder Kyle Weiss had seven ground balls last spring.
