155 Greyhounds Honored on 2023 Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll

TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference announced its 2023 Spring Academic Honor Roll selections today including 155 student-athletes from Moravian University. The Honor Roll recognizes all winter and spring student-athletes who have reached sophomore standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.

In a change to the Landmark Conference awards structure that began in 2020-21, the spring semester academic honor roll now includes all spring sports as well as men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, and men's and women's indoor track & field.

Moravian had student-athletes from 14 of its winter and spring teams that compete in the conference with the women's track & field program leading the way with 60 honorees including 26 outdoors and 24 indoors. The men's track & field team had 26 total honorees with 13 both indoors and outdoors while the men's lacrosse squad had 15 selections and the women's lacrosse team had 14 student-athletes selected. The baseball program registered 10 honorees followed by the women's basketball squad with nine. The softball team had eight student-athletes honored followed by the women's tennis program with six, the men's basketball team with five selections and the men's golf, women's swimming and men's tennis teams each with four student-athletes selected.

The women's track & field team was the runner-up Landmark Conference outdoor championship in May, and the Greyhounds placed third at the indoor meet in February. Leading the Academic Honor Roll nominees are seniors Rachel Byrne, Elizabeth DeMassa, Peyton Herbst, Crystal Robinson, Haylee Saylor, Maddie Wickel and Delaney Wiseman, juniors Vicky Donovan, Emma Garchinsky, and Pia Mazella-DiBosco and sophomores Zoey Bronson, Bella DeMassa, Caillie Fish, Abby Giamoni, Rachael Goodman, Hannah Kolonoski, Catie Lovett, Abby McClaskey, Ally Meeks, Liz Miskovsky, Rylie Murphy, Amber Poniktera, Racquel Ramey, Ashley Rodrigues, Lexi Rushatz and Mikayla Woodring. Everyone on the list except for Donovan and Lovett, who compete in other sports during the winter, also received the honor for the indoor season.

The men's track & field team finished third at the 2023 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships and fourth indoors saw seniors Ethan Cherubin, Liam Duffy, Shane Houghton and Christian Jancsarics, juniors Lance Burrier, Casey Frank, Josh Mangini, Derek Mason and Brendon Ward and sophomores Jake Farrell, Geoffrey Kleinberg, Owen Nahf and Wyatt Poniktera make the list in both seasons.

The men's lacrosse program posted a 7-8 mark this spring. Graduate students Liam Dugan and Connor James, seniors Jack Bakey and Shane Cassel, juniors Matt Baer, Connor Estes, Avery Napolitano, Jack Swistak and Thomas Ulmer and sophomores Austin Hittle, Dan Kelly, Gannon Mesko, Steven Salica, Jake Smit and Kyle Weiss made the Academic Honor Roll.

The women's lacrosse squad finished the season with a 12-6 overall record and the program's fifth straight Landmark Conference Tournament appearance. Graduate students Brittany Bill and Eliza Fantazzi, seniors Megan Donnelly, Brelyn Friedman, Emily Hoskin, Devin King and Rylee Soltis, juniors Alise Downey, Salome Carr and Keara Reilly and sophomores Alex Cherenson, Maddie Dippel, Jackie Salvatore and Isabella Ziccardi were named to the Academic Honor Roll.

Moravian's baseball program finished the year at 13-26 in 2023. Seniors Matt Ciarrocchi, Derek Holmes, Mason Fisher, Garrison Koch, Chris Pow and Ethan Weber, juniors Matt Madigan, David Olsakowski and Connor Wengryn and sophomore Chris Medei all received Academic Honor Roll accolades.

The women's basketball team was 15-11 this past winter and reached the Landmark Conference Semifinals. Graduate students Kayla Yoegel and Tessa Zamolyi, seniors Morgan Amy, Emily Markowski and Ashley Robinson, junior Reganne Flannery and sophomores Mikayla Anderson and Brielle Guarente along with Donovan from women's outdoor track & field garnered spots on the Academic Honor Roll.

The softball squad won the 2023 Landmark Conference Tournament, the NCAA Division III Medford (Mass.) Regional and the NCAA Division III Cambridge (Mass.) Super Regional while tying for fifth at the NCAA Division III Championship Series to complete the season with a 38-12 record and sixth in the 2023 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Final Poll. Senior Madison Hummel, junior Emily Silberman and Mya Zettlemoyer and sophomores Madi Cunningham, Jessica Forder, Lindsey Gawrys, Jenna Lenko and Sage Snyder all earned spots on the Academic Honor Roll.

The women's tennis team posted an 18-4 overall record this year while finishing as the runner-up in the Landmark Conference Tournament. Seniors Julianne Cassady, Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone, juniors Gabby Martin and Megan O'Brien and sophomore Rose Lombardo each received a nod on the Academic Honor Roll.

The men's basketball squad, which was 8-17 this year, had senior Nate Dougherty, juniors Alex Dietz and Mark Howell and sophomores Michael Leonardo and Nate Sanitago selected to the Academic Honor Roll.

The men's tennis team and men's golf squad shared senior Andrew Hozza, who participated in both sports for the fourth year, on the Academic Honor Roll. Senior Justin Szaro and sophomores Zachary Lebby and Wyatt Marshall from the men's tennis program, which was 16-5 on the season and made the Landmark Conference Semifinals, and senior Jack Wagner, junior Sam Mortazavi and sophomore Sam Bingaman from the men's golf team that was tied for third at the 2023 Landmark Conference Championships also earned Academic Honor Roll accolades.

The women's swimming team had seniors Jaelyn Mitchell, Sydney Steere and Marissa Werner and Lovett from the outdoor track & field team honored on the Academic Honor Roll in the program's second season.
