Abigail Schaffer ’12 - New Moravian Hall of Fame Inductee

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Abigail Schaffer '12, a two-time NCAA Division III National Champion, is being inducted into the Moravian University Athletic Hall of Fame on October 7, 2022 in Johnston Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Schaffer, a 2012 Moravian graduate, was a two-time NCAA Division III Champion in the pole vault, winning both the indoor and outdoor title as a junior in 2011, while setting meet records at both championship events. Schaffer was a four-time All-American in just two seasons at Moravian with runner-up finishes indoors and outdoors in 2012 after winning the individual championships in 2011. Her outdoor school record of 4.22 meters (13-10) it tied for fourth best height in NCAA Division III history, and Schaffer's indoor school record and then-NCAA Championship meet record of 4.17 meters (13-8.25) is tied for fifth all-time in the NCAA Division III listing, both of which remain Landmark Conference records.

Schaffer was selected as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year in 2011, and she was a four-time USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Mideast Region Field Athlete of the Year, garnering the award both indoors and outdoors in 2011 and 2012. Schaffer was a four-time Landmark Conference and ECAC Division III pole vault champion, and she was also honored as the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Outstanding Female Athlete in 2011 and 2012 and Moravian's Outstanding Female Athlete in 2012.

Schaffer is being joined by softball student-athlete Erica Klepeisz Kilpatrick '09; men's tennis and soccer player and former men's and women's soccer coach Eric Lambinus '94; former baseball student-athlete George Pitsilos '67 and four-time NCAA Division III National Champion sprinter Eric Campbell-Woodruff '11 to make up the class of 2022 that will be inducted into the Moravian Athletic Hall of Fame. The 1994, 2001, 2002 and 2003 women's tennis teams will also be inducted on Friday, October 7 while Dr. Stacy Robustelli '97 will receive the Robert Martin Herbstman Award.
