Five Moravian Student-Athletes Selected to College Sports Communicators Women’s At-Large Academic All-District

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University field hockey student-athletes seniors Emily Wells and Brooke Wilkinson and sophomore Sydney Anderson and women's lacrosse student-athletes senior Megan Donnelly and sophomore Alex Cherenson have been selected on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team for NCAA Division III schools.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. Moravian has had 56 Greyhounds named CSC Academic All-Americans®. The at-large program honors student-athletes in the sports of beach volleyball, bowling, crew/rowing, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing and water polo for women.

By making the All-District Team, the group is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CSC Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Thursday, June 22.

The Greyhound field hockey program was 8-11 overall last fall and 4-3 in Landmark Conference action. The Hounds pulled an upset at The University of Scranton in the Landmark Conference Semifinals to reach the conference championship match for the first time in program history. This spring, Moravian's women's lacrosse squad posted a 12-6 record with a 6-1 mark in Landmark Conference action to capture the second seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time in school history.

Wells, a biochemistry major on a pre-med track with a 3.88 grade-point average, was selected to the 2021 and 2022 Landmark All-Conference First Team as well as the 2022 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for field hockey. Wells had eight goals and 12 assists last fall with a pair of game winning goals and played in the 2022 Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Game, and she completed her career tied for 12th all-time with 55 points on 17 goals and 21 assists with her assist total being tied for second in program history. Wells made Moravian's Dean's Honors List eight times as well as being a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and Wells is a four-time member of the NFHCA National Academic squad, earning Scholar of Distinction honors three times.

Wilkinson, a nursing major with a 3.78 grade-point average, repeated on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team this past fall as she posted a 1.63 goals-against average with 87 saves, six shutouts and an 8-11 record while playing all 1,181 minutes in goal. Wilkinson finished her career with a 1.51 goals-against average, which is third all-time, 177 saves, which ranks ninth in program history, a 22-14 record, which is third in victories, and 11 shutouts, which is tied for second in school history, in 2,350 minutes, eighth all-time, over 41 matches. Wilkinson made Moravian's Dean's Honors List six times as well as being a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and Wilkinson is a four-time member of the NFHCA National Academic squad, earning Scholar of Distinction honors for the first time this year.

Anderson, a nursing major with a 3.60 grade-point average, was selected to the 2022 NFHCA Division III All-Region V Second team while making the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second straight fall. Anderson led Moravian in scoring in 2022 with 27 points on 12 goals and three assists, and she netted one game-winning goal. In 35 matches in her first two seasons, Anderson has netted 27 goals to go with seven assists for a total of 61 points, and she is tied for sixth in career points and tied for seventh in career goals. Anderson has scored six game-winning goals in her career. Anderson has made Moravian's Dean's Honors List twice and the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll once. She is a two-time member of the NFHCA National Academic squad.

Donnelly, a nursing major with a 3.62 grade-point average, was selected to the 2023 Landmark All-Conference First Team as she contributed 46 goals, nine assists, 86 draw controls, 36 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers this spring. She finished her career with 141 points, which is seventh all-time, on 102 goals and 39 assists, and Donnelly was second in program history with 180 draw controls to go with 94 ground balls and 49 caused turnovers in her four seasons. Donnelly made Moravian's Dean's Honors List eight times as well as being a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Cherenson, a public health major with a 3.97 grade-point average, was named to the 2023 Landmark All-Conference Second Team after contributing 34 goals in 2023 to go with two assists, 37 ground balls, 32 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers. She has 62 points with 55 goals and seven assists to go with 50 ground balls, 38 draw controls and 19 caused turnovers in her two seasons. Cherenson has made Moravian's Dean's Honors List four times while being named to Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll once.
