TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has named 46 student-athletes to the All-Sportsmanship Team. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.

The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. The student-athletes selected demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.

The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2013 as a way to highlight student-athletes who are making an impact. The Landmark previously awarded a Sportsmanship Cup before the All-Sportsmanship Team replaced the Cup for the 2013-14 academic year.

Men’s Basketball
Junior guard Alex Dietz is the men’s basketball honoree on the All-Sportsmanship Team, the third straight year he has been honored. Dietz averaged 10.1 points per game for the Greyhounds this winter, and he also contributed 49 rebounds, 47 assists, 40 three-pointers and 17 steals while starting 17 of 25 games. Dietz heads towards his senior campaign with 658 points in just 59 career contests.

“Alex represents everything we want in our athletes,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Darryl Keckler.  “He competes really hard and with great character. He is a developing leader that puts others first. I am excited to see where Alex leads our program next year.”

Women’s Basketball
Senior guard Ashley Robinson was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team from Moravian’s women’s basketball squad. Robinson saw action in all 26 games with two starts and was a key reserve for the Greyhounds’ squad that made the Landmark Conference Semifinals. She averaged 5.2 points per contest and contributed 56 rebounds, 18 assists, eight steals, four blocked shots and six three-pointers.

“Ashley’s selection to the Landmark All Sportsmanship team is well deserved,” noted Head Women’s Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk. “She has served as a role model for her teammates on and off the court. Ashley is a competitor, but also knows that sportsmanship and teamwork is needed to be successful. She had a really good year on the court this season in terms of contribution to our team success. More importantly, Ashley is the epitome of a student-athlete and treats her teammates, coaches and opponents with respect and dignity. Congratulations to Ashley!”

Swimming
Senior Marissa Werner is the women’s swimming team’s 2023 recipient of the All-Sportsmanship honor for the second straight winter. Werner holds the school record in the 50-yard backstroke, and she is also a member of the school record 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays and 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays.

“Marissa always has a smile on her face, and she is the one who is always there cheering for her teammates and also all other teams swimming in the water,” stated Interim Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach Laurie Muller. “She is happy for everyone when they are finished and loves a good race.”

Freshman Even Bulette represents the men’s swimming program’s 2023 honoree of the All-Sportsmanship honor. At the 2023 Landmark Conference Championships, Bulette set the school records in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. During his first season, Bulette also broke the school marks in the 50-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard breaststroke and 100-yard breaststroke.

“Evan is a great teammate, who brings laughter to the team and is very supportive. He is always cheering the other swimmers on and is a true teammate,” Muller said.

Track & Field
Senior distance runner Peyton Herbst is the women’s indoor track & field All-Sportsmanship selection. Herbst ran in the 5,000-meter run at the 2023 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships, finishing in 19th for the Greyhounds. She was 60th in the 2022 Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships last fall.

“Peyton is an extraordinary candidate for this award,” commented Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. “She is just as conscientious of everyone else’s well-being as she is her own, whether that be her teammates or competitors. She is courteous, thoughtful, and puts the effort in to positively engage with everyone she’s around. Peyton has done an exemplary job of setting an example of how to conduct yourself as a Moravian track and field student-athlete all four years she's been with our program. Peyton has set the tone for a great team atmosphere over the past few years, so we’ve been very fortunate to have had her at Moravian guiding our program.”

Junior thrower Jeremy Goll is the men’s indoor track & field team’s honoree to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Goll scored two points for the Greyhounds at the 2023 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships with a seventh-place finish in the shot put.

“Jeremy has been a great member of our program for the past three years,” stated throwing coach Jon D’Ottavio. “He’s a hard-working individual and is very self-motivated to get better every day he’s practicing and competing. He's a superb example for his teammates and is always there to congratulate others for their accomplishments first before recognizing his own. Even last outdoor season after going through six weeks of rehab to come back from an ankle injury, Jeremy was the last person to talk about his big personal best toss in the shot put at Outdoor Landmarks. He truly has all the qualities that we look for in a ‘Hound!”
