BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted its Annual SAAC Kickoff event on John Makuvek Field Tuesday evening to begin the 2022-23 athletic season.
The night began with performances from the Moravian University Marching Band and the Cheerleading squad. Director of Athletics & Recreation Mary Beth Spirk welcomed all of the student-athletes followed by a welcome from Moravian President Dr. Bryon L. Grigsby '90 and introduction the members of the coaching staff and athletic department in attendance by a member of each team. Coach Spirk also honored several major award winners from the spring season and presented the softball program its plaque for leading all of NCAA Division III in fielding percentage during the 2022 season.
The student-athletes played rock-paper-scissors and had a tug-o-war tournament in the gym, and all of the student-athletes were treated to soft pretzels and water ice. Freshmen and transfer student-athletes received a Moravian Athletics t-shirt compliments of the Blue & Grey Club and the entire group had a picture taken to kick off the year. The evening was coordinated by Director of Fitness Center and Recreation Kelly Anthony and Director of Athletic Performance Tom Long.
