Top 10 Stories of 2021-22 - #8 Three Greyhounds Compete in NCAA Division III National Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University is continuing its look back at its 2021-22 athletic campaign. The next entry in our second countdown of the summer – the Top 10 Stories of the Year selected by the athletic administration – is our No. 8 highlight – three Greyhounds competed in the NCAA Division III National Championships as individual qualifiers.

Senior Natalie Stabilito qualified for the 2021 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country National Championship last November at E.P. "Tom Sawyer" Park in Louisville, Kentucky after finishing fourth in the NCAA Division III Metro Regional. Stabilito posted a time of 23:09.6 to place 200th of 292 runners on the 6,000-meter course in her first appearance at the national championships.

Senior Shane Houghton also competed at E.P. "Tom Sawyer" Park in the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country National Championships. Houghton earned his appearance with a sixth-place showing at the NCAA Division III Metro Regional, and he took 204th of 289 runners in a time of 25:33.0 on the 8,000-meter course.

Graduate student Shane Mastro competed at the NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the first time in his career at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio in May. Mastro, who qualified with the 15th best toss in the nation, placed fifth in his flight and 15th overall in the shot put with a toss of 15.42 meters (50-7.25) on his first throw of the competition, his third best career mark and tied for the fifth longest throw in school history.
