Top 10 Stories of 2021-22 - #3 Women’s Track & Field Wins Landmark Conference Title by One Point

women's track & field team poses with conference title for top 10 story

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University is continuing its look back at its 2021-22 athletic campaign. The next entry in our second countdown of the summer – the Top 10 Stories of the Year selected by the athletic administration – is our No. 3 highlight – the women's track & field squad capturing the 2022 Landmark Conference title by one point, 162-161.

The Greyhounds battled with Susquehanna University throughout the two-day meet hosted by Juniata College in early May. Heading into the final two events to score, the 4x400-meter relay on the track and the high jump in the field, the River Hawks held a 10-point lead.

Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad of senior Natalie Stabilito, junior Crystal Robinson and freshmen Zoey Bronson and Abby Giamoni finished third in race with a time of 4:08.94 to score six points. The Hounds had to complete the race at least one spot ahead of Susquehanna to get the Hounds within nine points as the squads awaited the results of the high jump.

Sophomore Lexi Groff won the high jump with an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference qualifying height of 1.61 meters (5-3.25) in the final event to score. Her win pulled the Greyhounds from a nine-point deficit to the title with the River Hawks not scoring in the event.

Moravian had three other event champions with Robinson, Giamoni, junior Helen Davis and freshman Racquel Ramey combining to win the 4x100-meter relay. Robinson repeated as the champion in the 200-meter dash and earned Landmark Conference Outdoor Female Track Athlete of the Year honors while Davis captured the 100-meter dash title for a second straight spring.
