Top 10 Stories of 2021-22 - #2 Three Greyhounds Earn Landmark Conference Athlete of the Year Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University is continuing its look back at its 2021-22 athletic campaign. The next entry in our second countdown of the summer – the Top 10 Stories of the Year selected by the athletic administration – is our No. 2 highlight – three Greyhounds capture four Landmark Conference Athlete of the Year honors.

Senior forward Ava Edwards of the Moravian field hockey team became the first Greyhound in program history to earn a major postseason award from a conference when she was named the Landmark Conference Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Year last fall. Edwards led Moravian in scoring with 40 points on 16 goals and eight assists as the squad posted the best season in school history with a 14-3 mark and the top seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. She was also named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region 5 Second Team. Edwards finished her Moravian career with 21 goals and ten assists for 52 points in 51 matches.

Junior Crystal Robinson captured Landmark Conference indoor titles in the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.16 seconds and the 400-meter dash in 1:00.41 to earn Landmark All-Conference First Team honors. She was named the 2022 Landmark Conference Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Year for her efforts.

Robinson was also selected as the 2022 Landmark Conference Female Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 200-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay, placing second in the 100-meter dash and helping the 4x400-meter relay take third in the crucial final race to help the Greyhounds win their 14th straight conference outdoor title. Robinson was also named to the 2022 USTFCCCA All-Metro Region in the 4x100-meter relay and the 100-meter dash.

Graduate student Shane Mastro was named the 2022 Landmark Conference Male Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year after winning the shot put for the third straight championship as well as the discus to earn All-Conference First Team honors in both events, and he was second in the hammer throw to make the All-Conference Second Team. Mastro was also selected to the 2022 USTFCCCA All-Metro Region in the shot put while competing at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships.
