Farrell Adds to Accolades With ECAC South Runner of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Junior Dillon Farrell's 2013 awards list continues to pile up as the Moravian College star harrier was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Tri-Runner of the Week for the period ending Oct. 6.

Farrell finished in sixth place in a massive field of 372 runners at the Paul Short Run – Brown Race at Lehigh University on Saturday afternoon to lead the Moravian men. He shares this week's award with Brett Kubiak of Gwynedd Mercy University and Max Robinson of Johns Hopkins University, who won the individual titles in the White and Gold races, respectively, at the Paul Short Run.

The junior was clocked at a 25:26 in his first 8,000-meter race of the season, which is Farrell's second best career time in the 8K and the third fastest in Moravian history. His finishing time was only 22 seconds behind the race's winner, Khari Bowen of Monmouth University, who won ECAC Runner of the Week honors for Division I.

Farrell's fast time helped the Greyhounds finish 33rd out of 46 in the team competition in the Brown Race, which featured multiple Division I and II schools and the deepest field Moravian will face all season.

Farrell and the Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Princeton University Invitational, a site where Farrell broke the school record in the 8K last season.
