SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's tennis team won five of six singles matches to rally from a 3-0 deficit for a 5-4 win at The University of Scranton Saturday as the Greyhounds clinched the top seed for the 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament.
The Greyhounds, now 13-1 overall and 6-0 in Landmark Conference action, dropped all three doubles contests with the tandem of junior Eiman Nazif and Emma Angle falling 8-5 at first doubles.
Nazif started the comeback with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at second singles before the Royals earned a win at first singles for a 4-1 edge. Junior Lauren Steinert recorded a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at fourth singles while a 7-5, 6-2 win at third singles by sophomore Mary Angle closed the gap to 4-3. Sophomore Kristen Cassidy knotted the overall score at 4-4 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at sixth singles while sophomore Brooke Adams completed the comeback with a 6-3, 6-3 win at fifth singles.
Moravian is slated to return to action on Tuesday, April 16 when the squad hosts Eastern University in a non-conference contest beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
