Women Capture Bulldog Invitational to Begin 2018

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's cross country squad finished first of three schools in the Bulldog Invitational hosted by DeSales University Friday evening to open the 2018 season.

Th Greyhounds edged rival Muhlenberg by a point, 30-31, while DeSales scored 77 points. The Mules took the top three spots before seven straight Greyhounds crossed the line led by junior Carly Danoski, who finished the 5,000-meter course in 20:30. Junior Katie Mayer took fifth of the 28 runners in 20:38, and she was followed by sophomore Natalie Novotni in sixth at 21:11, sophomore Molly Talarico in seventh at 21:18, freshman Natalie Stabilito at eighth in 21:23, freshman Rachel McCoach in ninth at 21:31 and sophomore Grace Gilbert at tenth in a time of 21:35.

The Hounds had another five runners in the second ten with junior Ashley Rohrer finishing 12th in 21:46, freshman Mackenzie Heitz at 13th in 21:48, senior Alyssa Limbaugh at 14th in 21:54, freshman Santina Burak in 16th with a time of 22:22 and junior Marlee Hornbaker in 20th at 22:48, the same time at junior Rachel Mikols turned in.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to the course on Saturday, September 8 when the run on the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Alumni Challenge at Union Canal Park in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the site of the 2018 Landmark Conference Championships in October.
