BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's cross country program began their 2021 season by running at the Lehigh University Invitational that took place on the Goodman Campus in south Bethlehem Friday with the Greyhounds placing sixth of eight teams with 193 points.

How It Happened

  • Senior Natalie Stabilito was the first Greyhound to complete the 6,000-meter course, finishing in a time of 23:01.7 to finish 29th of the 101 runners.
  • Senior Santina Burak finished in 24:21.2 for a 55th place finish
  • Sophomore Pia Mazzella DiBosco and senior Emma Marion finished one-after-another, with Mazzella DiBosco completing the course in 24:52.5 and Marion in 25.03.1
  • Three freshmen rounded out the scoring for the Greyhounds, led by Amber Poniktera, who ran a 26:16.4. Ally Meeks finished the course in 26:37.6 and Lily Mingora completed the race in 27:17.1

Quotable

  • "Overall, we had a solid start to our season," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "Natalie Stabilito, Santina Burak, and Pia Mazzella had great races.  After that we had some of our usual top 7 unable to finish or were dealing with the remnants of some illnesses from the week so they didn't perform how they could have, but it's also not indicative of where we're at right now. We learned a few things to work on, including matching up with some of our training partners better in the race so we can close some of the time gaps we saw tonight.  However, that's all stuff we know can come together as we work through the season, and why it's great to get in early season races so we have the time to focus on and improve those aspects of our team races."
