NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian University men's and women's cross country teams have both been ranked in the top 10 of the new NCAA Division III Metro Region heading into the 2021 season by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Greyhounds switched from the Mideast to the Metro Regions this summer as the NCAA expanded to 10 regions. The Moravian men are ranked third in the Metro behind Haverford College and Rowan University while the Greyhound women are fifth, trailing Swarthmore College, Rowan, Widener University and Haverford.

"On paper, I think both of our rosters have the potential to be exceptional this year," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann, who is entering his 11th season at Moravian. "Natalie Stabilito and Emma Marion have the potential to be top 20, likely even higher at the regional meet then we have a number of women who I feel could finish in the top 50. With the men, we have at least five guys who jump to mind that have the potential to be in contention for All-Region honors by November.

"We need to put in the work to achieve that and even more importantly we need the luck of good health on our side. However, if all of that happens over the next three months, I do think these rankings reflect what we have the potential to achieve," continued Baumann.

Moravian is set to open its 2021 season on Friday, September 3 when the squads will both run the 6,000-meter course in the Lehigh University Invitational.
