TOWSON, Md. --- The Landmark Conference has named 46 student-athletes to the 2022 Winter All-Sportsmanship Team. The All-Sportsmanship Team includes one student-athlete from each institution for each sport and is selected by the players and coaches from their respective team.

The All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes who epitomize the ideals of sportsmanship. The student-athletes selected demonstrate fair play, graciousness in victory and respectfulness in defeat. They are ambassadors for the team, both on and off the field, and galvanize their teammates toward their goals. These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, spectators, and the greater campus community.

The All-Sportsmanship Team was created by the Landmark Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in 2013 as a way to highlight student-athletes who are making an impact. The Landmark previously awarded a Sportsmanship Cup before the All-Sportsmanship Team replaced the Cup for the 2013-14 academic year.

Men's Basketball
Sophomore guard Alex Dietz is the men's basketball honoree on the All-Sportsmanship Team, the second straight year he has been honored. Dietz averaged 12.8 points per game for the Greyhounds this winter, and he also contributed 92 rebounds, 64 assists, 29 three-pointers and 22 steals while starting all 25 games.

"I am very proud of Alex for being selected for the Landmark All-Sportsmanship Award," said Interim Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Frew. "Alex is a class act on and off the court. He's a guy who does the right things when nobody's looking. He was selected as a team captain by his coaches and teammates and has done a masterful job of leading by example. It's no surprise he's a repeat All-Sportsmanship Award winner this season. Alex's basketball future is very bright, and he will continue to impact our basketball program in a positive manner until he graduates from Moravian University."

Women's Basketball
Junior forward Emily Markowski was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team from Moravian's women's basketball squad. Markowski saw action in 21 games due to an injury, and she started 16 contests. She averaged 5.9 points per contest and contributed 80 rebounds, 24 assists, 16 steals and seven three-pointers.

"I am very happy for Emily in receiving the All-Sportsmanship recognition," noted Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "Emily is one of the most passionate, hard-working players I have coached. She plays the game all out with enthusiasm and tremendous attitude day in and day out. This award is the result of Emily's desire to put the team first. She competes hard but always puts the game in perspective. I am very happy for Emily as she has developed into one of our leaders on and off the court."

Swimming
Junior Marissa Werner is the women's swimming team's 2022 recipient of the All-Sportsmanship honor in the program's first year as a varsity sport. Werner competed 50 and 100 freestyle, the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke, the 50 and 100 butterfly, the 200 and 400 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay during the season. She recorded PRs in the 50 and 100 freestyle at the Landmark Conference Championships.

Freshman Harrison Ziegler represents the men's swimming program's 2022 honoree of the All-Sportsmanship honor in the team's first year of varsity competition. Ziegler competed in the 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay events during the 2021-22 campaign. He recorded PRs in the 200, 500, 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle races at the Landmark Conference Championships, and Ziegler was ninth in the finals of the 1,650 freestyle, tenth overall in the B final of the 200 freestyle and 11th in the B final of the 500 freestyle.

"Since sportspersonship is a tenet of our team philosophy, selecting only one athlete per team to represent in the Landmark Conference is a difficult choice. We are proud to select Marissa and Harrison Ziegler as our first athletes to the Conference All-Sportsmanship Team, representing this important core value of our program," stated Head Men's and Women's Swimming Coach Mary Ellen Wydan.

Track & Field
Junior jumper Haylee Saylor is the women's indoor track & field All-Sportsmanship selection. Saylor earned All-Landmark Conference Second Team honors in the 4x200-meter relay at the 2022 Landmark Conference Championships, and she also competed in the long jump and triple jump for the Greyhounds.

"Haylee is not the type of person that you'll hear screaming for teammates across the track. Her style is more reserved, composed, and focused," commented Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "We talk as a staff all the time that few do all the details right quite like Haylee does. She never gets too high or low, she's just level-headed and is an excellent example of how to practice, compete, or conduct herself as a student-athlete. She shows respect towards everyone regardless of what jersey they're wearing. Her personality and drive are attributes any coach would like to build an entire roster around."

Senior thrower Tim King is the men's indoor track & field team's honoree to the All-Sportsmanship Team, the second straight year that King has received the honor. King earned Landmark All-Conference Second Team honors at the 2022 Landmark Indoor Championships with a runner-up throw in the shot put, and he also earned a bronze medal with a third place showing in the 35-pound weight throw. King is slated to compete at the 2022 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 5 at Nazareth (N.Y.) College.

"Tim is the heart and soul of our team," stated Baumman. "He all but literally wears his passion for this sport, team, and school on his sleeve and truly is the inspirational leader for our program right now. He is as kind and engaging as anyone I've met; he has a proverbial smile on his face and greets everyone he sees with excitement. Win, lose, or draw he shows great sportsmanship and class towards his competitors. There aren't many "Tim Kings" out there, and we're very blessed to have him competing for us and representing Moravian.
