BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Erica Klepeisz Kilpatrick '09; Eric Lambinus '94; George Pitsilos '67; Abigail Schaffer '12 and Eric Campbell-Woodruff '11 make up the class of 2022 that will be inducted into the Moravian Athletic Hall of Fame. The 1994, 2001, 2002 and 2003 women's tennis teams will also be inducted on Friday, October 7 in Johnston Hall while Dr. Stacy Robustelli will receive the Robert Martin Herbstman Award.
Erica Klepeisz Kilpatrick, who graduated in 2009, had an outstanding career on the softball diamond. Kilpatrick was a four-time All-Conference First Team honoree, making the Commonwealth All-Conference First Team in 2006 and 2007 and the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2008 and 2009. She was also a three-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-East Region Second Team honoree while helping the Greyhounds to two Commonwealth Conference titles, two Landmark Conference Championships, three NCAA Division III Tournament berths, an NCAA Division III Regional title in 2007 and a berth in the NCAA Division III World Series the same season. During her career, Kilpatrick registered 191 hits, which is still tied for the sixth-most in program history, and she added 533 at-bats, 36 doubles, 264 total bases and 31 stolen bases, all of which remain among the top ten all-time in school history. Kilpatrick was a four-year starter in center field, and she played in 171 of 173 possible games in her career as the Greyhounds recorded a 140-33 record in her four seasons with a 49-3 conference mark.
Eric Lambinus, who completed his degree in 1994, was a two-sport student-athlete for the Greyhounds on the soccer pitch and tennis court, and he also coached both of Moravian's men's and women's soccer squads. During his playing career on the soccer pitch, Lambinus registered 33 goals and 22 assists for 88 points, and he earned All-Middle Atlantic Conference South First Team honors in 1991 and 1992 and All-MAC Commonwealth League First Team accolades in 1993. Lambinus was selected as a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Regional All-American in 1991, and he earned a spot on the All-MAC South Second Team as a freshman in 1990. Lambinus competed on the tennis courts for Moravian for three seasons with a 19-14 overall singles mark and a trio of victories in doubles action. Five years after graduation, Lambinus returned to Moravian to become the Head Coach of both the men's and women's soccer programs. He led the women's squad to a 129-64-16 record in 11 seasons with a 50-29-7 mark in conference action, and the program also won a Landmark Conference title in 2008, made trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2005, 2007 and 2008 with a first-round win in 2005, and ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament berths in 2003 and 2009. In ten seasons coaching the men's team, Lambinus won 76 matches and made trips to the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Tournament in 2001 and 2002.
George Pitsilos, a 1967 Moravian graduate, competed on the baseball team during his career with the Greyhounds. During his four-year career, Pitsilos recorded a .304 batting average with 77 hits, 45 runs, eight doubles, 27 RBIs and 26 stolen bases. He was a four-year starter at shortstop for the Hounds with 123 putouts and 158 assists in the field while helping Moravian to a 45-23 record. Pitsilos, who was a co-captain for the Greyhounds in 1966 and 1967, is a member of the Liberty High School Hall of Fame, the Blue Mountain Baseball Hall of Fame and the Northampton County Legion Hall of Fame.
Abigail Schaffer, a 2012 Moravian graduate, was a two-time NCAA Division III Champion in the pole vault, winning both the indoor and outdoor title as a junior while setting meet records at both championship events. Schaffer was a four-time All-American in just two seasons at Moravian with runner-up finishes indoors and outdoors in 2012 after winning the individual championships in 2011. Her outdoor school record of 4.22 meters (13-10) is tied for fourth-best height in NCAA Division III history, and Schaffer's indoor school record and then-NCAA Championship meet record of 4.17 meters (13-8.25) is tied for fifth all-time in the NCAA Division III listing, both of which remain Landmark Conference records. Schaffer was selected as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year in 2011, and she was a four-time USTFCCCA NCAA Division III Mideast Region Field Athlete of the Year, garnering the award of both indoors and outdoors in 2011 and 2012. Schaffer was a four-time Landmark Conference and ECAC Division III pole vault champion, and she was also honored as the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Outstanding Female Athlete in 2011 and 2012 and Moravian's Outstanding Female Athlete in 2012.
Eric Campbell-Woodruff, who graduated in 2011, was a standout on the men's indoor and outdoor track & field teams for four years, winning a total of four NCAA Division III National Championships. Campbell-Woodruff captured the 200-meter dash outdoor National title in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and he doubled up as a senior by winning the 100-meter dash. Campbell-Woodruff was a seven-time All-American as well as a two-time Eastern Collegiate Athlete Conference Champion. During his career, Campbell-Woodruff earned Landmark Conference Athlete of the Year honors twice while 19 Landmark Conference titles with eight relay championships and 11 individual titles. He also earned a pair of Landmark All-Conference Second Team honors and was Moravian's Outstanding Male Senior Athlete in 2011. Campbell-Woodruff was also honored as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Mideast Region Track Athlete of the Year both indoors and outdoors in 2011, and in 2010, he placed 22nd in the nation at the United States Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Iowa as he missed making the semifinals by 0.13 seconds after running 21.41 seconds in the race. Campbell-Woodruff still holds the top time in seven events in the program's record book, and he also has seven Landmark Conference records that still stand. His school-record time of 20.82 in the outdoor 200-meter dash remains tied for the sixth-fastest time in NCAA Division III history.
The 1994 women's tennis team earned the program's Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League title and was 14-2 overall after falling in the MAC Championship match. The 2001, 2002 and 2003 women's tennis teams combined for a 46-1 record in the three seasons and won three straight MAC Championships in the process. The lone loss by the three teams was the opening match of 2003, a 5-4 setback to Messiah College in league play, and the three squads had 11 victories without the opponent scoring a point. Dawn Ketterman-Benner coached all four teams being inducted during her career at Moravian.
Dr. Stacy Robustelli, a 1997 Moravian graduate, participated on the women's tennis and softball teams during her career. The Robert M. Herbstman Award recognizes an alumnus or alumna whose qualities of teamwork, leadership, and selflessness exemplify the spirit of Moravian athletics. Robustelli was a member of the 1994-95 MAC Commonwealth women's tennis championship squad, which is also being inducted into the Hall of Fame
