Top 10 Exciting Games of 2021-22 - No. 9 Softball Tops No. 11 MSOE in Florida for John Byrne’s 900th Career Win

Softball win over MSOE for No. 9 in Top 10 Exciting Games of 2021-22.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University is continuing to look back at its 2021-22 athletic campaign. The next event in the Top 10 Exciting Games from the past year is our No. 9 highlight – the softball team defeating No. 11 Milwaukee School of Engineering, 2-1, on March 2 at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Florida to give Head Coach John Byrne his 900th career victory.

The triumph was the sixth win of the year in the Greyhounds' 12-game winning streak to open the season, and it also made Byrne the ninth coach in NCAA Division III history to reach the 900-win plateau.

The low scoring affair started with MSOE taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

The Hounds knotted the score at 1-1 in the top of third on an RBI single from sophomore designated player Emily Silberman, and the Blue and Grey took the lead for good in the top of the fourth on an RBI ground out by sophomore outfielder Mya Zettlemoyer.

After Moravian took the lead, freshman pitcher Madi Cunningham set down the side in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings while working out of a jam in the sixth frame that had the tying run at second base to secure the victory.
