Twelve Hounds Earn 2022 USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Metro Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian University men's and women's track & field squads have had 12 student-athletes named as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honorees in 10 events including relays for a total of 13 All-Region honors.

For a student-athlete to earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to the final Track & Field Results Reporting System data or be part of a top-3 relay team. The program must also be a member of the USTFCCCA. Moravian is part of the Metro Region.

The Greyhound men had two honorees with graduate student Shane Mastro being honored in shot put and senior Shane Houghton in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Mastro, who was second in the region in the shot put with a school record toss of 16.11 meters (52-10.25) on May 14 at the Princeton University Elite Invitational while Houghton was third in the region in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a PR of 9:28.51 at the Landmark Conference Championships on May 8.

Mastro went onto compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships for the first time in shot put hosted by the University of Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio in late May.

The Moravian women's team had seven student-athletes and a relay team named to All-Region with junior Crystal Robinson making All-Metro Region in multiple events. Robinson recorded the fifth best time in the Metro Region in the 100-meter dash at a school-record time of 12.15 seconds at the Greyhound Invitational on April 15. Robinson also combined with junior Helen Davis and freshmen Abby Giamoni and Racquel Ramey for the third best time in the region in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 47.74 seconds, also posted at the Greyhound Invitational.

Sophomore Lexi Groff garnered All-Region honors in the high jump with the second-best mark in the Metro Region at a school record tying height of 1.65 meters (5-5) at the Muhlenberg Invitational on April 2 and then again at the Greyhound Invitational. Sophomore Kinsey Metzger had the third best distance in the region in the discus with a toss of 42.76 meters (140-3) at the Lafayette Open on March 26 to begin the outdoor season while sophomore Vicky Donovan and junior Delaney Wiseman both earned All-Region in the javelin with Donovan third with a mark of 38.09 meters (125-0) at the Coach P Invitational on April 23 and Wiseman in fourth at a distance of 35.90 meters (117-9) registered at the Greyhound Invitational.

Junior Elizabeth DeMassa was fifth in the triple jump at a distance of 10.60 meters (34-9.5) in the Carol and John Covert Classic at Lehigh University on April 30 to earn All-Metro Region accolades while senior Emma Marion had the fifth best time in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:18.93 at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Moravian on May 18.
