Six Greyhounds and the Women’s Track & Field Program Earn USTFCCCA Academic Awards

Six Greyhounds and Women's Track & Field squad earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors.

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Moravian University had six student-athletes named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Athletes and the women's track & field squad was honored as All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA for the 2021 season.

Moravian's women's selections were juniors Alyssa Lambert and Natalie Stabilito, sophomore Crystal Robinson, and freshman Lexi Groff and the men's selections were graduate student Greg Jaindl and senior Shane Mastro. To earn All-Academic individual honors, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and have competed in the 2021 NCAA Outdoor National Championships or have finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List. This year, there were 661 women and 470 men that were honored, including the six Greyhounds.

Lambert finished the 2021 campaign by winning the 400-meter hurdles and finishing in second in the 100-meter hurdles at the Landmark Conference Championship meet. She also found herself as an USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region Honoree. Stabilito claimed the top-spot in the 1500-meter run at the 2021 All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Championship, including being the Landmark Conference Champion in the 1500-meter event.

Robinson, who made her first appearance in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship and was an USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region Honoree, took home multiple accolades through her sophomore season. She was the Landmark Conference Champion in the 200-meter dash and the runner up in the 400-meter dash, to go along with a third-place finish and personal best time of 24.88 seconds at the All-Atlantic Region Championships. Robinson was also a member of the quartet of Greyhounds to run in the 4x100-meter relay, which won the Landmark Conference Championship and a second-place finish at the All-Atlantic Regional Meet. Robinson and company also finished as runners-up in the 4x400-meter run.

Groff began her collegiate career by winning the Landmark Conference title in the High Jump. Groff placed fourth at the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Championship in the high jump posting a PR height of 1.64 meters (5-4.5), tying for the second-best jump in school history.

On the men's side, Jaindl, who became the seventh Greyhound to be named the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, capped off his conference championship career with three first-place finishes. He captured the 1,500-meter run for the first time in his career with his time of 3:59.71. Jaindl won the 5,000-meter run for the first time with his time of 15:35.19 and won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:49.03, the second time in his career. He then finished as the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run by 0.25 seconds, running a PR and school record with a time of 3:53.00 at the 2021 All-Atlantic Regional, which qualified him to run at the NCAA National Championships. Jaindl ended his career earning All-America honors in his final collegiate race, placing third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Mastro won the conference title in the shot put and finished in second in the Hammer at the Landmark Conference Championship meet. A USTFCCCA All-Region honoree, Mastro placed fourth in the shot put at the Dr. Keller Invitational, followed by a fifth-place finish at the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Championship.

The women's team maintained a 3.52 cumulative GPA after the fall semester and was one of 213 women's teams to earn All-Academic honors. To be considered an All-Academic Team, programs must have a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater.
