NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian University men's and women's indoor track & field squads had six student-athletes named as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honorees Tuesday afternoon.

The USTFCCCA is in its ninth year of naming All-Region selections for indoor and outdoor track & field at the NCAA Division III level after having All-Region honors in cross country for a number of years. For a student-athlete to earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to the final Track & Field Results Reporting System data or be part of a top-3 relay team. Moravian is part of the Metro Region.

The Moravian women's team had three student-athletes earn four All-Region honors with sophomore Tara Smurla garnering All-Region in both the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs. Smurla ran the third fastest time in the region in the 3K 10:23.20 that she ran at the 2024 All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Indoor Championships on March 2, and Smurla had the second-best time in the 5K at 17:52.54, which she posted on March 1 at the AARTFC meet.

Senior jumper Lexi Groff and graduate student jumper Jocelynn Itterly shared the fourth-best performance in the region, clearing 1.61 meters (5-3.25) in the high jump at the 2024 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships on February 24.

The Hounds had three All-Region honorees on the men's side with sophomore Jerome Luckey first in the region in the high jump at 2.05 meters (6-8.75) that he recorded on February 16 at the Penn State University Tune Up. The height has Luckey tied for 12th in the nation, and he will compete in the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Saturday, March 9 at 3:00 p.m.

Junior Owen Nahf had the second-best time in the Metro Region in the 3,000-meter run with a school record and winning time of 8:26.37 at the AARTFC Championships on March 2 while freshman Javon McKay was tied for fourth in the 60-meter dash at 6.93 seconds that he ran on December 8 in the Lehigh University Fast Times Before Finals.
