BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to post a 3-1 victory over visiting Elizabethtown College at Gillespie Field Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened

• The Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning
• The Greyhounds knotted the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth frame. Senior center fielder Matt Madigan led off with a single and stole second base. Madigan scored on an RBI single up the middle by senior shortstop Paul Croyle
• The Hounds took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Graduate student designated hitter Chris Pow singled with one out before freshman Domenic Venini came on to pinch run. Senior first baseman Cole Cherkas followed with a two-run homer to right center field, his second home run of the season and fifth of his career 

Inside the Numbers

• Moravian had six hits in the contest with Cherkas leading the way at 1-for-3 with a run, two RBIs and his homer
• Coyle had a hit and an RBI while Madigan added a hit and a run and Pow collected a hit
• Senior left fielder David Olsakowski and junior third baseman Nick Henry both had hits
• Freshman Andrew Benvenuto made the start on the hill for the Greyhounds, and he allowed a run on five hits and two walks in 2.2 innings of action. Sophomore Stefano Garofalo also pitched 2.2 innings with a hit and two walks to go with a strikeout
• Graduate student Ethan Weber pitched 1.2 innings with a hit and a walk while freshman Ryan Hoffman tossed two-thirds of an inning with a walk
• Freshman Nick Leonard came one to earn the victory as he recorded a hit and a strikeout in the final 1.1 innings
