CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball team held off a late rally from host DeSales University for a 13-12 non-conference victory under the lights Tuesday evening under the lights.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Freshman left fielder Jared Ferguson led off the contest with a double, and he raced home on an RBI double from senior center fielder Matt Madigan. • Moravian countered with five runs in the top of the fourth to move back ahead 9-4. Madigan singled with one out and stole second base to become the fifth player in program history to reach 50 career stolen bases. Pow followed with a walk before Cherkas connected on a three-run homer to left field, his fifth home run of the season and eighth of his career. Freshman catcher Wyatt Harrar drew another walk and scored on a two-run homer to left center field by Henry, his second homer of the spring and third of his career
  • The Blue & Grey added three more runs in the top of the fifth to push the advantage to 12-4. Graduate student shortstop Jack Tone drew a leadoff walk before Ferguson singled. Madigan ripped a two-RBI triple to right center field as Tone and Ferguson raced around the bases. Harrar drove in Madigan with an RBI double down the left field line later in the inning
  • The Bulldogs scored three times in the bottom of the fifth frame to make it 12-7
  • The Greyhounds pushed a run home in the top of the seventh for a 13-7 edge. Harrar led the inning off with a walk, and he scampered home on an RBI sacrifice fly by Clements
  • DeSales answered with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, and the Bulldogs pulled within a run after scoring a pair in the bottom of the eighth inning
