Moravian Drops Final Game of Landmark Conference Series at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University baseball squad dropped the final game of a Landmark Conference series at Elizabethtown College Wednesday, falling 7-1.

How It Happened

  • The Blue Jays took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning, and Elizabethtown extended the advantage to 5-0 with three runs in the sixth frame
  • The Greyhounds scored their lone run in the top of the seventh inning when senior center fielder Matt Madigan led off with a solo home run to left field, his second homer of the season and career
  • The Blue Jays countered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to finish the scoring

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had just three hits in the contest with Madigan having the lone extra base hit with his homer
  • Senior catcher Connor Wengryn and graduate student designated hitter Chris Pow each had singles in the game
  • Freshman Nate McBride started on the mound for the Hounds, and he allowed five runs, just one earned, on nine hits and a walk in 5.1 innings to go with one strikeout. Sophomore Max Sponheimer pitched an inning with two runs on three hits while freshman Ben Cogar made his collegiate debut with one hit and one strikeout in 1.2 innings of action
