Kanyuk Honored as Landmark Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Sophomore goalie Megan Kanyuk from the Moravian College field hockey squad has been honored as this week's Landmark Conference Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Kanyuk helped the Greyhounds to a 2-1 record last week that included the first two shutouts of her collegiate career. Kanyuk had a 1.00 goals-against average for the week while making 22 saves in 210 minutes of action.

"Megan has been working very hard since preseason and is now feeling very confident in her role," said Head Coach Amy Endler. "She is becoming more aggressive and vocal on the field. I am happy her hard work is paying off and being recognized."

Kanyuk opened the week with a career-high 11 saves in a loss to Cabrini College. She bounced back with three stops and her first career shutout in a 7-0 victory at Cedar Crest College. Kanyuk finished the week with another shutout and eight more saves in a 2-0 triumph over FDU-Florham.

Moravian will return to action on Wednesday, September 24 in a non-conference match versus King's College beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Betty Prince Field.
