Field Hockey Falls to Goucher in Overtime

Bethlehem, Pa. --- In their 2014 Landmark Conference debut, the field hockey team was pushed into an overtime match against the Gophers of Goucher College, on Saturday, at Betty Price Field. The Greyhounds fell 2-1 despite controlling most of the match.

Head Coach Amy Endler stated "It was an unfortunate result. We dominated the second half but just couldn't find the back of the cage." Endler continued "They were determined and they fought, we fought too but couldn't capitalize."

The Greyhounds and Gophers were tied 0-0 after the first half, with senior midfielder Catherine Duffin leading the way for the offense recording eight shots in the match. Sophomore forward Erin Tiwold would produce four shots and took nine penalty corners.

The Hounds took a 1-0 lead when sophomore midfielder/forward Christina Duddy netted her second goal of the season with a pass from junior midfielder Ely Vazquez in the 60th minute. The Gophers responded tying the game with under a minute to play and carried that momentum into overtime scoring off a penalty corner.

Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Kanyuk had five saves on the match for the Greyhounds.

The Blue and Grey take on fellow Landmark Conference member Catholic University of America at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
