BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The second seeded Moravian College men's basketball team is set to travel to top seed Drew University for the 2019 Landmark Conference Championship game on Sunday, February 24 with tip-off set for 1:00 p.m. at Baldwin Gymnasium in Madison, New Jersey.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children. All youth under the age of 10 are admitted free as are all students, faculty and staff with a valid ID from any of the eight Landmark Conference institutions. College students without a Landmark school ID and seniors are $4.
The Greyhounds reached the title game for the third straight winter as the second seed with a 91-73 victory over third seed Susquehanna University in Johnston Hall Thursday evening as the Blue and Grey won for the eighth time in 10 games. The victory was Moravian's third consecutive home semifinal victory in the last three seasons. Drew earned a 75-69 win over fourth seed The University of Scranton in Thursday's other semifinal, and the winner of Sunday's championship contest earns the conference's automatic berth to the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.
The Hounds are now 18-8 overall this season, and Moravian completed the Landmark regular season with a 10-4 mark while the Rangers are 21-5 overall and 12-2 in Landmark action. During the regular season, each team won on its home floor with Drew capturing an 79-75 victory in Madison, New Jersey on January 16 and the Greyhounds winning 89-85 in overtime in Johnston Hall on January 30.
Moravian Head Coach Justin Potts has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the third straight year in just his fourth season back at the school, and he has a 68-39 career record. The Blue and Grey are looking to defend their Landmark Conference Championship. This winter marks the Hounds' fifth trip to the Landmark Conference Tournament and the eighth time in 82 seasons the program has won 18 games after setting the school record with 20 victories a year ago and the third straight season under Potts' direction the Blue and Grey have won 18 games.
Leading the squad on the court have been seniors forward Oneil Holder and guard Jimmy Murray. Holder tops the squad at 18.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game to go along with 69 assists, 46 steals, 26 blocked shots and 26 three-pointers while Murray is netting 14.4 points per contest to go with 59 rebounds, 47 three-pointers, 42 assists and 22 steals. Holder, who has played in a school record 107 career games, is fourth all-time with 1,595 points and sixth with 694 rebounds while Murray is seventh in school history with 1,493 points in 100 career games.
Junior guard C.J. Barnes is contributing 12.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per outing to go with 55 three-pointers, 18 steals and 15 assists while senior guard Nicholas Casazza is scoring 8.8 points per game with a team-high 56 three-pointers, 54 rebounds, 38 assists and 28 steals this winter. Junior guard Elijah Davis is adding 6.4 points per contest with 73 rebounds, 32 assists, 28 steals, 28 three-pointers and 19 blocked shots while junior forward Addis Ralph is netting 5.3 points per outing with 49 rebounds, 15 three-pointers and 11 assists and junior forward John Hargraves had 87 points, 37 rebounds and 11 blocked shots before being sidelined with an injury.
Senior guard Will Brazukas leads Moravian with 84 assists to go along with 63 rebounds, 33 steals, 10 three-pointers and a 5.2 point per game scoring average. Sophomore guard Matt O'Connor has contributed 102 points, 44 rebounds, 33 assists, 19 steals and 17 three-pointers while freshman forward Steve Breeman has 84 points, 47 rebounds, 15 three-pointers and 12 assists in his debut season. Sophomore guard Keith Otto has added 71 points, 47 rebounds, 19 assists, 13 steals and 11 three-pointers while sophomore guard Shon Wilson has 55 points, 34 rebounds, 13 steals and 10 three-pointers this winter. Junior guard Mike Martino has contributed 55 assists, 48 rebounds, 22 points and 15 steals while freshman guard Noel Karameros had three rebounds and two assists before being sidelined for the season.
