Greyhounds Fall at Lebanon Valley after Halftime Lead

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse squad had a two-goal halftime edge before falling to host Lebanon Valley College, 20-13, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds netted the first two goals of the match with sophomore midfielder Aaron Judge and sophomore attack Dan Kelly scoring. After the Flying Dutchmen tallied a goal, the Blue and Grey scored three of the next five goals with junior attack Brennan Fluehr, sophomore midfielder Steven Salica and freshman attack Ryan Kokoszka all scoring. Lebanon Valley went on a 4-0 run over the last 4:25 of the opening quarter to take a 7-5 edge after 15 minutes of action
  • Senior midfielder Jack Bakey netted a goal to start the second quarter. LVC led 9-7 with just over ten minutes until halftime when the Hounds scored four straight goals to end the half. Freshman attack Vincent Devito scored man-up to knot the score at 9-9 while junior attack Trevor Dzama finished the run to send Moravian to the intermission with an 11-9 advantage
  • The Flying Dutchmen scored the first two goals of the second half to tie the game again at 11-11 when Judge scored for the Greyhounds for a 12-11 edge. Lebanon Valley answered with two goals to lead 13-12 after 45 minutes of action
  • LVC would net the first seven goals of the final quarter before Judge finished the scoring in the final minute of the half

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had nine players score with Judge and Kelly each netting three goals. Dzama added a goal and three assists while Devito contributed a goal and two assists and Fluehr had a goal and an assist
  • Bakey, Salica, Kokoszka and sophomore midfielder Aden Moskovitz all netted one goal
  • Sophomore midfielder Gannon Mesko was 24-for-36 on face-offs to go with 11 ground balls. Mesko's 24 face-off wins in one shy of the Moravian single match record
  • Junior long stick midfielder Matt Baer scooped up four ground balls while Moskovitz and sophomore midfielder Kyle Weiss each had three ground balls and freshman defender Justin Ganci caused a pair of turnovers
  • Sophomore goalie Thomas Lee made seven saves for the Hounds
  • The Greyhounds had a 50-49 edge in shots, a 31-26 advantage in ground balls, went 15-of-18 on clears and won 24-of-36 on face-offs
