Greyhounds Drop Blue Ridge Classic Championship Match to Pfeiffer (N.C.)

FERRUM, Va. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse squad dropped the championship match of the Blue Ridge Classic at Ferrum (Va.) College to Pfeiffer (N.C.) University, 18-5, Sunday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Falcons opened the scoring five and a half minutes into action, and Pfeiffer netted four more goals to lead 5-0 after the first quarter of play
  • Pfeiffer also scored first in the second quarter while junior attack Trevor Dzama got the Greyhounds on the scoreboard four minutes into the second period. The Falcons countered with six straight goals to head into the intermission with a 12-1 advantage
  • Sophomore midfielder Aden Moskovitz netted the first goal of the third quarter, and Pfeiffer also scored once in the period as the Falcons led 13-2 after 45 minutes of action
  • Pfeiffer added two goals to begin the fourth quarter while freshman attack Vincent Devito tallied a man-up goal for the Blue & Grey. The Falcons would net three more goals before Devito and Dzama both scored in the final minute to set the final score 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had three different players score with Devito and Dzama both contributing two goals and an assist while Moskovitz had one goal. Devito also recorded a pair of ground balls
  • Sophomore attack Dan Kelly posted an assist
  • Sophomore goalie Thomas Lee made 15 saves to go along with seven ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while sophomore defender Jason Levy scooped up four ground balls
  • Junior long stick midfielder Matt Baer added three ground balls while senior midfielder Shane Cassel had two caused turnovers and sophomore midfielder Gannon Mesko won five faceoffs
