Mack & Sullivan Honored by Landmark Conference

TOWSON, Md. --- Junior Lizzie Mack and sophomore Lindsay Sullivan of the Moravian College softball team have been named the Landmark Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances in the Greyhounds' Spring Break trip to Florida last week.

The duo helped the Hounds to a 5-1 record at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida, including a five-game winning streak to start the season.

Mack started all six games, three at designated player and three at outfield, and hit .667 with 10 hits in 15 at-bats during the week.  She had multiple hits in four of six contests including a 3-for-3 performance in the Hounds' 11-0 win versus Regis (Mass.) College. Mack had four RBIs against Regis as well, her second four-RBI game of the week as she tallied 12 RBIs and also scored 11 runs during the trip. Mack finished the week with a 1.133 slugging percentage thanks to a pair of doubles, a triple and Moravian's lone home run of the week against Marywood University, and she had a .667 on-base percentage.

"Lizzie hit the ball hard consistently throughout the week," stated Head Coach John Byrne. "She also came through with runners in scoring position each week and kept the offense going when she was at the plate."

Sullivan picked up a pair of wins in the circle for the Greyhounds including a two-hit shutout of Regis. She had a 1.75 ERA for the week after allowing two runs on six hits to go with two strikeouts. Sullivan played in four of Moravian's six games, also seeing action at first base, and she went 4-for-7 (.571) at the plate with a double, a run scored and three RBIs. Sullivan also had five putouts and two assists in the field in seven chances.

"Lindsay moved the ball around well and had good command of her control in the circle," Byrne said. "She also hit the ball well at the plate."

Moravian is slated to begin the Northern portion of its schedule on Tuesday, March 18 when the Greyhounds host The College of New Jersey in a non-conference doubleheader at Blue & Grey Field with first pitch of the opener set for 3:00 p.m.
