Dalickas & George Named ECAC All-Stars; Dalickas Tabbed South Player of the Year

CENTERVILLE, Mass. --- Moravian College juniors first baseman Jenn Dalickas and center fielder Dior George have been named to the 2014 ECAC Division III South All-Star First Team, and Dalickas was selected as the South Player of the Year.

The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 29-8 record this past spring with a 9-3 slate in the Landmark regular season to earn the second seed in the Landmark Tournament. It was the 21st consecutive season the program has won at least 23 games and the 20th straight year reaching the postseason.

Dalickas adds to her growing list of 2014 honors that includes being a Second Team Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-American. She was also on the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-East Region First Team for the third straight season, and Dalickas made the Landmark All-Conference First Team for a third straight year and was honored as the Landmark Player of the Year. She is now a three-time ECAC All-Star selection after being on the First Team in 2012 and the Second Team last season.

Dalickas led the Greyhounds this season with a .505 batting average to go with 54 hits, 38 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, a school record 12 home runs, a school record 53 RBIs, a school record 106 total bases, a .991 slugging percentage, 19 walks and a .579 on-base percentage. Dalickas made the defensive switch from right field to first base this season, and she made 218 putouts and seven assists in the field while starting in all 37 games, just one of two Greyhounds to play in every game this spring.

"Jenn saw the ball very well all season, and put together an outstanding season," stated Head Coach John Byrne. "She hit for power and was able to take the ball the opposite way when teams try to pitch her outside. It is nice for her to add few more honors to cap off her tremendous season."

George, who is now a three-time ECAC All-Star as well after earning a spot on the First Team in 2012 and the Second Team in 2013, also made the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-East Region First Team this spring after being on the Second Team the previous two seasons. George has been selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team the past three seasons, and she was the 2012 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year.

This spring, George became the 12th player in school history to reach 150 career hits, and she set the school record in runs scored with 143. George posted a .443 average from the leadoff position in the order with 43 hits, 42 runs, 11 doubles, three triples, a pair of home runs, 13 walks and 97 RBIs. She also added 66 total bases, a .680 slugging percentage, 13 walks, six hit-by-pitch, a .525 on-base percentage and six stolen bases. George, who missed the season-ending Landmark Tournament with an injury, had 42 putouts and three assists from her center field position in 33 games this spring.

"Dior has put together a great career and this spring was just another chapter in that story," Byrne said. "She was been out leadoff batter for three years and knows how to get on base. She also makes sure not much hits the ground in the outfield and has an arm that will throw out a runner that tries for an extra base."
