Marcks Selected as Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior forward Alesha Marcks has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her performance over the last seven days.

Marcks helped Moravian to a 1-1 record as she averaged 16.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in the pair of games. Marcks also shot 59.1 percent from the field (13-for-22) and 83.3 percent from the charity stripe (5-for-6) to go with five steals, three blocked shots and an assist in 53 minutes of action over the two contests. Her 10 rebounds last week increased Marcks' career total to 499, just one shy of becoming the 20th player in school history to reach 500 career rebounds.

Marcks started the week with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, two steals and a pair of blocked shots in the Greyhounds' 79-37 victory over Wilkes University as the Blue and Grey extended their winning streak to nine games. She then had 18 points, three boards and three steals in a 73-66 loss to No. 25 Albright College as the Hounds ended their first semester of action.

"Alesha has really stepped up her game over the past two weeks," commented Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "She is our team's emotional leader and will do whatever it takes to help this team win a championship. A two-year captain, Alesha's senior year is off to a great start and we hope it continues to go up."

Moravian, 9-2 overall and 2-0 in Landmark Conference action, has a three-week break before returning to action on Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Selinsgrove with a Landmark Conference contest at Susquehanna University scheduled to tipoff at 4:00 p.m.
