Wright Selected to ECAC DIII South All-ECAC First Team

DANBURY, Conn. --- Moravian College women's basketball member graduate student Alexis Wright has been selected to the ECAC DIII South All-ECAC First Team. This is the second time Wright has been named to the First Team for the ECAC. Last season Wright was named to the second team All-ECAC.

"Garnering first team ECAC is another indication of the great year and career that Alexis had over the past five years," commented Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "Alexis was determined to come back after her injury her junior year and return to the player she was prior to the injury. She achieved that goal and more. This ECAC honor is a huge accomplishment as it encompasses many teams with a lot of outstanding talent. We are proud of Alexis' accomplishments and well deserved recognition."

Wright helped lead the Greyhounds to a 20-8 record this winter with a berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament and an at-large bid in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament where the squad travel to and defeated No. 15 the University of New England, 70-60, in the first round before falling to No. 7 Tufts University in the second round.

This season, Wright averaged a double-double at 13.2 points per game, which was second on the team, and led the team with 11.6 rebounds per contest. She also contributed a team-high 73 blocked shots to go along with 52 assists, 42 steals, a 70.4 free throw percentage (88-of-125) and a 39.0 field goal percentage (141-of-362).

Wright completed her career setting the school record holder in rebounds with 1,272 boards, and she climbed her way to third in scoring with 1,711 points, second in blocked shots with 277 and sixth in steals with 213 while playing in a school record 121 games. Wright also now hold the career records in field goals attempted at 1,650 and career free throws attempted at 648, and she is third in field goals made with 643 and free throws made with 413.

Wright has garnered a number of postseason accolades in her career including spots on the D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team in 2013 and Second Team in 2015 and 2016, the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and 2016, the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year in 2012 and the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2013, 2015 and 2016. She also made the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-America Team in 2013 and was named to the Women's DIII News Honorable Mention All-American this season after earning the honor in 2013 as a sophomore.
