Ten Greyhounds Earn Spots on 2021 Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll

LANCASTER, Pa. --- Ten members of the Moravian University football team have earned spots on the 2021 Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll that includes 215 football players among the 975 student-athletes honored by the conference.

To be named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and have a cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher.

The Greyhounds had three seniors named to the Academic Honor roll including defensive back Jackson Buskirk, defensive lineman Brandon Nemeth and offensive lineman Jaequan Swint. Moravian saw five juniors – defensive back Ethen Aquino, offensive lineman Nate Bendekovits, tight end Ethan Deater, defensive lineman Javi Espinal-Katz and linebacker Nick Levinski – and two sophomores – defensive back Ben Carlin and wide receiver Joseph Walker also named to the Academic Honor Roll.

"This is a well-deserved recognition by this group by making the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll," stated Head Coach Jeff Pukszyn. "These ten men have done an outstanding job balancing their academic schedules, along with putting in a good deal of time and dedication to the Moravian football program. I am very proud of their accomplishments as student-athletes and for the three seniors – Jackson, Brandon and Jaequan – we wish them all the success in their future endeavors and thank them for their dedication to the football program for the last four years."

Buskirk was selected to the 2021 Centennial All-Conference Second Team after leading the Moravian defense with 76 tackles this fall, and he also had one and a half tackles for loss, four passes defended including one interception and a forced fumble. Nemeth recorded 21 tackles with a half a tackle for loss while Swint and Bendekovits were starters on the offensive line. Espinal-Katz paced the Greyhounds with nine tackles for loss and four and a half sacks among his 50 tackles, and he also had five pass break-ups and three quarterback hurries. Levinski contributed 25 tackles with two sacks, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry in five games due to injury while Aquino recorded 12 tackles in just four games due to injury. Deater caught four passes for 23 yards while Carlin recorded four tackles.

The Greyhounds finished 3-7 overall and were 3-6 in the Centennial Conference.
