Greyhounds Head to Scranton for Landmark Conference Semifinals

The #4 seed Moravian College men's basketball (12-13, 7-7 Landmark) heads to #1 seed The University of Scranton (18-7, 11-3 Landmark) on Wednesday, February 22nd for a Landmark Conference Tournament battle. The Greyhounds are making their first postseason appearance since 2008, when they lost to the Royals, 79-78 in the semifinals.

Tickets for Landmark Conference tournament games $5 for adults ages 18 to 61, $3 for senior citizens, students and children ages 10-17, and all students from Landmark Conference institutions are free with college ID. Live stats and video of the game will be available at Moraviansports.com.

Moravian fell just short to Scranton, 81-77, just two days ago in the final regular season contest. Senior forward Jeff Cullinan had a double-double in the contest while dropping a career-high 32 points to go with his ten rebounds.

This will be the 81st meeting between the two schools with Scranton holding a 56-24 series advantage. The Greyhounds last win came on December 6, 2008 in a 78-71 victory at Johnston Hall.

Junior guard D.J. Strayhorn leads Moravian this season with 19.1 points per game to go with his team-high 76 assists and 48 steals while classmate guard Garrett Johnson is second with 13.0 points and third with 5.6 rebounds per contest go with his 73 assists, 41 steals and 37 three-pointers. Cullinan is putting up 10.8 points while bring down 4.9 boards per game to go with his 16 blocks.

Sophomore guard Kenny Gula is averaging 7.3 points per contest to go with his 35 assists while freshman guard Izel Dickerson has 6.2 points per game to go with his 45 assists and 15 steals. Sophomore forward Cameron Cullen is putting up 5.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while senior forward Marcus Hardy is leading Moravian with 6.5 rebounds per game and 19 blocks. Junior forward Aaron Thieme is averaging 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest to go with his 16 blocks.

The Greyhounds are outscoring all of its opponents by an average of 1.2 points per game. Moravian has also committed 1.1 fewer turnovers per game this season.

The Royals are led by junior guard Travis Farrell with 13.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game to go with his team-best 58 steals. Freshman guard Ross Danzig is putting up 12.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest to go with his 59 assists, 40 steals and 20 blocks. Sophomore guard Tommy Morgan is averaging 10.8 points and 4.1 boards per contest to go with his 26 steals, 13 blocks and team-high 63 assists.

Senior forward Luke Hawk has averages of 12.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game to go with his 41 assists while senior forward Matt Swaback leads the squad with 26 blocks to go with his 8.4 points and 4.3 boards per contest.

Scranton currently holds a 10-1 home record this winter and a perfect 7-0 home record against Landmark Conference opponents. The Royals are scoring 6.4 more points per game than its opponents while shooting better from the field and the free throw line. They are also averaging 3.2 more rebounds per game and 0.8 less turnovers per game this year.

The winner of this game will play the winner of the #3 seed Juniata College/#2 seed Susquehanna University game in the Landmark Conference Championship game on Saturday, February 25th. The game will be played at the highest remaining seed.
