TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College junior Gregory Jaindl has been selected as the first Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the 2018 season after his performance last week.
Jaindl helped the Greyhounds finish first of three teams at the Bulldog Invitational hosted by DeSales University by winning the 5,000-meter race in a time of 16:01 last Friday evening.
"We were happy with Greg's opener," stated Head Coach Jesse Baumann. "We didn't put a lot of emphasis on it but we were certainly curious to see how he'd match up against Gabe Lamm or Corey Mullins, who will be key competitors when it comes to NCAA qualifying in November. He stuck with the pack through the mile, made a decisive move in the upper fields and took control of the race by the time he made it to the 3,200 mark. He's looked great in workouts, especially our last two Mondays in the 90+ degree heat, so he's showing he's right where we want him to be this time of year."
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, September 8 when the squad will compete in the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Alumni Challenge at Union Canal Park in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the same course that will be used for the 2018 Landmark Conference Championship in late October.
