BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's cross country squad placed first in the team standings at the Moravian/Cedar Crest Invitational run at Bicentennial Park in Bethlehem Friday evening.

The Greyhounds won by 15 points with a score of 20 points overall after taking the top four scoring spots and five of the top 10. York placed second with 35 points.

Junior Gregory Jaindl won the 8,000-meter race with a personal best time of 25:42.3 on the course, which is also the tenth fastest time in school history, to pace the 83 runners. Senior Devon Harris was the runner-up in 26:33.8 while junior Gavin Kemery finished fourth in 26:37.2 and junior Justin Beasley-Turner placed fifth in 26:59.3, the first time in his career that he's been under 27:00.

Freshman Dominic Derafelo finished in 11th place as Moravian's last point scorer in a time of 27:30.5 while senior Benjamin Smith (Wilmington, Del./Saint Elizabeth HS) was 15th in 28:02.2 and sophomore Peter Gingrich rounded out the top seven in 18th place with a time of 28:12.6. The Greyhounds had three other runners in the top 30 with freshman Richard Glennon taking 23rd in a time of 28:24.0, freshman Brad Clemson placing 27th at 28:36.5 and freshman Michael Lerch in 30th at 28:55.6.

"We were hoping for a few more guys to break 27, but the course didn't run super quick today," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "Overall our top four ran really solid times and we have a huge group that are capable of solidifying our 5th spot, we just have to tighten that and get more under 27:00. It was only our first serious 8k, so that will come with time. Overall we can leave today happy, and should be ready for a big day when Paul Short rolls around."

The Hounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, September 29 in the annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
