The Elizabethtown College women's soccer team jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead and earned a 3-0 non-conference win over visiting Moravian College Wednesday evening as the Greyhounds, ranked seventh in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings, dropped their third straight match after starting the year 3-0-1.
The Blue Jays, who have won five straight matches, needed just 3:45 into the contest to take a 1-0 lead on a goal from freshman midfielder Ashley Landis off of a pass by junior forward/midfielder Kayla Joseph. Elizabethtown would extend its lead to 2-0 in the 36th minute when sophomore forward/midfielder Taylor Kreider scored off of an assist from junior forward/midfielder Laura Wingert. Wingert would add a third goal in the 86th minute when she scored off of a pass from junior forward Kelsey Boehmer. Elizabethtown had a 22-3 advantage in shots, and the Blue Jays had a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
Moravian sophomore goalie Genevieve Chaleff made eight saves for the Greyhounds while Elizabethtown junior keeper Jess Manchak made one stop.
Moravian will open its 2011 Landmark Conference season on Saturday, September 24th in a 3:30 p.m. match at The Catholic University of America.
The Greyhounds return home on Saturday, October 1st in a Landmark Conference match versus Drew University starting at 3:30 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
