Greyhounds Battle to 1-1 Tie

Greyhounds Battle to 1-1 Tie

The Moravian College women's soccer team (3-0-1) played to a 1-1 tie versus Delaware Valley College (3-1-1) Wednesday afternoon at the HUB Quad. Greyhound sophomore goalkeeper Genevieve Chaleff made five saves in 110 minutes.

The Aggies got on the board early when sophomore forward Marianne Morton notched her second goal of the season to give DVC a 1-0 lead on just the second shot of the match. That lead would remain intact until 15 minutes left in regulation when Moravian freshman midfielder Quanie Lightner sent a pass to senior forward Arielle Caldas who put the ball in the back of the net to tie the game at one. That would end up being the final result as both teams played into a double overtime.

Aggie sophomore goalkeeper Julie Burnell made 20 saves in 110 minutes of play.

The Greyhounds couldn't find the net more than once as they out-shot Delaware Valley, 50-15, and Moravian hit a pair of posts in the match on shots by senior midfielders Kristen Popovice and Jenna Stickle. Delaware Valley Senior forward Dana Gentile also hit a post and was high on a penalty kick with just 1:50 left in the second overtime. Moravian also had the corner kick advantage at 13-1.

The Greyhounds finish up their home stand this Saturday, September 17 when they take on Misericordia University at 12:30 p.m. at the HUB Quad.
