Hounds Split Again on Second Day of 16th Annual Greyhound Premiere

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's volleyball squad split two more matches on the second day of the 16th Annual Greyhound Premiere Invitational in Johnston Hall Saturday, falling to Swarthmore College, 3-0, before rallying for a 3-2 victory over Alvernia University.

The Hounds dropped the match to the Garnet by set scores of 25-18, 25-14, 25-14. Freshman outside hitter Kirah Dreisbach paced the squad with eight kills to go with 10 digs while senior middle blocker Erin Tiger, who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team, had seven kills. Freshman middle blocker Renee Mapa added three kills and four digs while junior setter Victoria Kauffman ran the offense with 25 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Jasmine Pavlinsky contributed eight digs while freshman libero Ally Locy added seven digs.

In the win over Alvernia, Moravian won the opening set 25-20 only to see the Golden Wolves capture the next two sets, 25-22 and 25-21. The Hounds answered by winning the fourth set 25-12, and the Blue and Grey captured the fifth set 15-12 to win the match. Tiger paced the squad with 11 kills to go with five blocks and three service aces while senior outside hitter Brooke Kusmider had 10 kills and five digs. Kauffman contributed 35 assists, five kills and three digs while Mapa and Dreisbach each had four kills with Dreisbach adding four service aces and three blocks. Pavlinsky paced the Greyhounds with 11 digs to go with three service aces.

Moravian is slated to return to action on Wednesday, September 5 in a non-conference contest at DeSales University beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Center Valley.
